At some point in our lives, in the various journeys that we undertake, they’ll always be moments where we feel like giving up. Sometimes we sadly find ourselves giving up even before we start. At other times, most crucially, we tend to give up just before we are about to make a huge break-through– which can be frustrating to exactly anyone.
But in Mr. Baharim’s case, giving up was never an option.
Mr. Baharim Bin Hassan, who was then a regular officer for RSS Security in 2002, is now the Chief Security Officer (CSO) who proudly plays a crucial role in managing personal and private bodyguard assignments for several principals of the company.
When Mr. Baharim, a father of four, first joined RSS Security, he knew that he was in the right place of his career-building journey in the security and safety field. As he humbly started from the bottom, doing general groundwork on the daily, he then got engaged with his mentor, the late Dato’ Hj Osman, and was inspired to continue striving till he reached a high-ranking position in management.
Every now and then when he loses motivation, or encounters a temporary defeat, a quick reminder of his potential is what drives him to succeed as a respected CSO within the company. He never turns down any requests from clients, and he never stops exploring new ways in being better at what he does. The excitement and optimism that he portrays are also two things that people love most about him.
“To those who have just started engaging themselves in an industry that is new to them, try your best to not switch jobs too quickly,” Mr. Baharim said. “You’ll never know your true capabilities or what position you’re bound to achieve if you give up too soon. I’m happy where I am, because I believed in myself– and that’s why young people should too.”
Not only that Mr. Baharim has taught us to never give up, but the qualities that he portrays at work everyday also encourages us to be the best version that we can be– let it be for basic groundwork, or even high-ranking positions in an organization.
